Located on the northern beaches in Sydney Australia. Driftwood, a new home for Rosemarie Sills designed by building designer Jim O’Brien from Viewthru and Interior Designer Christina Prescott. With the site on a slope, Jim designed the house with split levels, with decks at every possible opportunity. It makes the house seem like there is always outdoor space available. There are three guest bedrooms on the lower ground floor, each with doors leading out to the garden.
The client’s brief was to create a relaxed home evoking a feeling of warmth, whilst being functional for a family. Taking cues from surrounding sandstone clifftops and the breathtaking ocean views CPD layered texture and materiality with a focus on handmade materials wherever possible, the result is a design of considered simplicity that will only get better with age
